The Hobnob – 2013

As you might already know, we’re working hard to make The Hobnob the official connection directory for music production. We’re gearing up to launch an updated version of the platform in early 2013, spread the word online and get the press/media excited about us.
We’re looking forward to all the new developments, but we can’t do it without ideas and feedback from the good people who are already part of The Hobnob community. If you can take a few minutes, we need your honest thoughts on a few things:

* What’s your favorite part of The Hobnob?
* What about The Hobnob needs the most improvement?
* What could The Hobnob do to truly help propel your career forward?
* What would you tell your collaborators, friends and colleagues about The Hobnob to get them on board?
* What would make The Hobnob directory something you would check frequently?
* What sites do you frequent (professionally, creatively, etc)? What do you love about them?
* If you’re a producer or engineer, how do you usually find work/clients?
* If you’re an artist, how have you gone about finding producers in the past?
* Where are good places online to spread the word about and advertise The Hobnob?

Thanks for taking time to answer these questions! As an added note, we do have some developments already in motion. We’ve outfited the site in a slicker skin to streamline it and make it easier on the eyes, and have made some updates in design so that the experience is more functional and intuitive. We are also working on important groundbreaking new features and opportunities that will be featured on the site within the next months ! We can’t wait to share these developments with you. Thanks a lot for joining the hobnob. The community has just started and is growing. Please spread the word with your friends and workmates. As the Hobnob grows it will become increasingly interesting and useful to it’s members..Some grammy winners and celebrity engineers and producers, plus more artists and bands have joined recently and this is great.
For those of you who haven`t done so yet, I strongly recommend you fill up and update your profile soon. This will ensure everyone gets the best from the hobnob search engines and site functionality.
The more members that have their profiles up to date the better the AME (automatic matching engine) and the Power search will perform.

Fully completed member profiles are essential for an effective and thriving hobnob. In fact, it’s so important that it’s “mandatory”. In 2 months we will be sending an email to notify the members who have not filled up their profile that they will be suspended (not deleted) if not updated in one week. These can be fixed later but I suggest you do it before !
I will soon put up a couple tutorial Vids and there we are working on a very cool new feature for the following months, I will talk about it on the blog and will send you all an email at the right time.
Don`t forget to read the “about us” and “Faq” pages.
The hobnob is still in beta phase and needs brilliant minds, so please feel free to send feedback (positive or negative) and suggestions to me at fgdd@me.com

Version 2 !!

Hi everyone, thanks to your feedback, suggestions, creative input, and new ideas from our end we could improve the site and a glorious Version 2 of the Beta is up ! I sent some invitations today. It is probably no longer a Beta as it seems to be stable.

Among the important news:

-Straight forward – quick registration process.

-Classic “Share” buttons on the member profiles will allow you to send any member profile page (including yours) to Facebook, Twitter or via email, etc. and Unique Hobnob URL (e.g. thehobnob.net/artist/xiren)
So for istance when you want to use the Hobnob profile as your personal resume/CV for business, or you discover an interesting artist or engineer, you can immediately send his/her profile to a friend or post it on your social pages, and you can get the code to embedd a Hobnob button to a website.

- Among the Pro membership bonuses there is a cool “Spotlight” feature at the bottom right of the Home page. Each month an Artist or Engineer or Producer is featured on the home page with an article and a picture or a video. The most interesting thing is that any pro member can write an article like something about himself or a mini blog, or about another member. It will then be checked by administrator and published.

- The AME (Automatic Matching Engine) will show the first 5 stronger candidates first, then more pages with more potential cool people to work with.

- The Power Search has been optimized and works progressively in an intuitive way: less info= more results, more info=narrower search.

- Almost unlimited list when it comes to name your most influential or favorite bands and artists or producers on your profile.

- A new box with your File transfer dropbox ID (E.g. Yousendit, Dropbox, Wetransfer, Gobbler, etc)

- There are many enhancements in the profile parameters, make sure that you go through your profile page once more.

New members are joining in and hopefully bring new ideas.
